Is it possible to have back seats lay flat when folding them down? When folded down they are at a slant, and really annoying for my dogs. Husband has 2011 Escape and seats lay flat when folded down.

If the seat bottoms flip up then the seat backs would probably sit flat.
The seat bottoms do not flip up. To make the rear area flat start by unclipping and removing the rear seat cushions. This takes some time as they weren't designed to be removable. Reinstalling them takes even longer. This will not make the rear completely flat , but it does help. Alternatively, add padding or foam sheeting to the rear. At the very rear you'll need to build it up 5 inches and gradually taper off.
Yeah, I want flat fold down rear seats also Preferably with hard seat backs and it could easily be achieved with a higher hinge point on the rear seat backs. This would give more room for the cushions at the expense of having a small step which actually be a good feature for holding luggage from sliding forward. I agree; the sloping backs are a nuisance for dogs. Just looking at this vehicle right now and this issue makes it a fail...pity.
