Oil Consumption

It's become a known issue the abnormal amount of oil the Fiat 500x AWD
Easy burn through and one suggestion was to use a heavier weight of oil.  
Does anyone know whether or not that may cause damage to the engine or
otherwise when cautioned to use only a 0W 20 Full Synthetic?

Stick with what the manufacturer recommends and get the problem fixed.
