01 ford focus wont start

Asked by Ksversvold Jun 22, 2016 at 07:44 AM about the 2001 Ford Focus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My wife had parked her 01 ford focus to run into
the store. While inside the car died and wouldn't
start back up. It cranks fine but won't start.
Wondering if it could be the alternator. The check
engine light was one and threw a P0455
Evaporative Emission Control System Leak
Detected. Also wondering if it could be the evap
solenoid?

No, the alternator (your battery is turning the starter motor) and cranking ...is NOT the cause of the NO, start most likely a fuel issue or ignition..The first thing taught in a basic automotive class is to check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail with a gauge PSI. and guys never do this! .Regards
