Yet another overheating question. Sorry *grin*

Asked by natira121 May 01, 2015 at 06:19 PM about the 2001 Ford Focus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2001 Ford Focus SOHC manual trans.  Heater hose blew.  Fixed hose.  Car started (finally) but died after about a mile.  Coolant spewing from radiator cap.  Replaced with new cap, same result, after less than a minute of run time (it was dead cold when started this time).  Tested thermostat, it's fine.  Radiator flushed 6 months ago, after replacing water pump.  So, what now?

Check the compression on the engine, and make sure there is no water in the oil,

No oil in the water or vice versa. Waiting for parts, then we can check compression. However, there are no noticeable leaks, and it drove fine and sounded normal when running after we fixed the hose, so I am not thinking blown head gasket. Car has 227k miles on it, and still gets 30+ in town, 40+ on highway. Gotta love the Foci! But I wish I was better at diagnosing!
