how to handle payment

I am considering selling my Jag F-Type.  However, I'm a little concerned with
how to handle payment collection.  I don't expect someone to fork over cash
and there are plenty of bad check scams including ones that look like certified
bank checks.  What's the best way to go about this?

Talk to your banker about acceptable forms of payment. The only thing I know of besides cash is a cashiers check drawn on your bank. Every other check takes two weeks to clear if they ever do. Bank transfers can work but do take a day or two.
