I have a 1995 GMC Vandura3500 (6 cylinder).

Drove fine until recently, when it started smoking. One look under the hood
and it looks like the "alternator bracket" is broken? I need help determining if
the broken part is the alternator bracket, so that I can have it replaced.

I don’t think that can be fixed, it will need replacing, and it looks like it is the whole accessory mounting plate assembly that needs replacing. Then double check alternator alignment as there is a reason it broke that way. The smoke was most likely the serpentine belt from running out of line so it will need replaced also.
