Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2001 Expedition with a 5.4 and
227,000 miles on it, been having all kinds of
misfire problems the past year. The latest is
it’s running lean on bank 1 and misfire on
cylinder 1. Put in new plug and coil on 1. Also
had a crack on PCV elbow so put in new
PCV valve and elbow, ran fine for about a
week then started misfiring again. Same
codes, P0171 and P0301. Checked for
vacuum leaks, cleaned Mass Airflow Sensor,
changed air filter and put in another new coil
and plug in 1. It’s not idling rough anymore
but shaking like hell when I’m 20-30 mph and
then smooths out once I get closer to 40
mph. Code hasn’t popped back up yet since
I unhooked battery to chang coil and plug.
Any ideas? I’m beyond stumped. Thanks!

Do a leak down test on engine not the old school compression test. Read about it https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/r/car-projects/leak-down-test-what-is-it-and-how-to-do-it Also with high miles the timing chain and VCT system is typically ready for rebuilding
