Your starter may be going bad. The next time it dies in your driveway, get under the vehicle and locate the starter. Have someone hold the key to the ON position, while they are doing that, rap on the starter with a hammer. If the vehicle starts up, that means the starter is going bad and needs to be changed out. If the vehicle fails to start, the problem may be your distributor. There is a pick up coil in the bottom that will fail and cause your exact condition. I have had two toyotas with the bad distributor. Car would start fine, then I would get someplace, go to start it, and nothing.
