Problems with starter or alternator

Asked by Nursemeow Jul 09, 2016 at 11:31 AM about the 2015 Honda Civic LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

We bought our used 2015 Civic LX (less than 4K
miles when purchased) last December and have
been experiencing problems with it. We notified that
on some occasions the motherboard goes out while
driving then turns back on after a few seconds but
more importantly, there have been numerous
occasions that the car won't start. It's just dead and
even the hazard lights won't go on. Just this week,
while making a left turn, the car died suddenly in
the middle of the intersection to the point the
hazard lights wouldn't come on but luckily some
Good Samaritan helped push the car to safety.
We've taken it to the dealership that we purchased
it from several times but they told us they can't fix it
if the car seems to be running fine when brought in.
They want to see it brought in when completely
dead, which is nearly impossible since we are able
to get it to restart after a few minutes. What could
the issue be with the car? What should we tell the
dealership to look for?

Is the battery light on ? Have the charging system tested to make sure it is charging at 14 volts also check the connections going to the battery and alternator making sure they are nice and tight and clean.

I know this is an old post but ive got 2008 honda civic. Ive had so many issues honda actually replaced the motor at no cost to. I think they called a "factory defect" ive replaced brakes 8 times. We bought the car in 2011. Someone said there was a class action suit over brakes &too late for me to do anything about. I now am on my 2nd starter in 1 year and its beginning to seem like the starter is going again. Third honda civic ive owned it seems like theres so many problems i will never buy another
