Why do you think this vehicle has been sitting on the lot for almost 300 days?

Asked by chaz3345 Jan 03, 2022 at 02:33 PM about the 2015 Ford F-150 XL 4WD

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

There is an 2015 F150 5.0L V8, 130k miles, extended cab short bed that is
fully outfitted with toolboxes and work-lights. I test drove it and it seems to
run and drive smoothly.
I really want it but they're lowballing me to death on my trade-in. What do
you suspect is the case here?

For starters the mileage is too high. The average is ten to fifteen thousand miles per year for the age of the vehicle. This vehicle has been driven about 18.5 thousand miles per year. Plus some Ford pickups are equipped with variable valve timing, depending on the engine, that's nothing but trouble! As far as your trade in is concerned, the demand for new and used vehicles is very high right now. They know if you balk at the trade in allowance someone else will come in right behind you and make a deal and they can make a big profit on the trade in too. I'd proceed with caution here. If that pick up has variable valve timing, you don't want it!! Hope that helps! Jim

You don’t want it. May not seem like it now but you will find it badly underpowered when you get it loaded up and start working it and it’s only a half ton. Can’t do much with a half ton truck.
