Barn doors to hatch

I cant stand barn doors. I want to do a liftgate/hatch conversion. Ideas? Suggestions?

I would imagine the easiest (but still hard)way would be to find a donor in the junkyard and get the factory assembly manual. With the manual you can figure out where the rear half of the body joins the main part and cut the spot welds out. Either that or find a shell with all tailgate components and swap all your parts onto it.
