Start with the basic and simple stuff. Check to see if the Brake Lights work. Check the fuse. Check for power coming into and out of the switch. It's usually that simple.

T_S_T or Tracy...............That is what I was thinking. Nothing was wrong until the shift arm wouldn't come out of park. There is an issue that you may help me try to phantom. Would it be just coincidental that a sizable crew cab truck backed into the rear bumper while it was parked moments prior to this situation? Does this in any way change your possible diagnosis? Thanks for your interest in my problem.....The relay .....$220+ and the brake switch @ O'Reillys $111.+ .

First, thing will car turnover and run,if so then check the safety switch,if car dos,nt turn over, there is and inestia swicth problem where the truck bumped you.

What T_S_T says is the first thing I thought of too. Fuses ok? Damaged wiring at the rear of the car blowing fuses? Check the Inertia Switch. Also known as the Fuel Cut-off Switch. Driver's side kick panel. Red Button.
