2015 Silverado Head Gasket failure

Asked by Royals1968 Feb 27, 2020 at 10:18 PM about the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My business partner's 5.3 blew a head gasket, sending oil into the cooling
system. I understand the common causes for the issue, but I am not familiar
with this iteration that can run as a four cylinder while cruising but switch to 8
when more power is needed.

Has there been any issue with this feature causing things like blown
gaskets?  I would not think so because I know how I would design it, and
these engineers are good at their jobs, .... But I have to ask...

Thanks

I know of no relationship between cylinder deactivation and head gasket failure.
