mass air flow sensor code will it stop my van from starting?

Yes. Check air filter and MAF sensor to make sure they're clean, check for air leaks at the intake hoses and the air filter hose, check for bad, loose or disconnected wires for the MAF sensor. If everything is ok, clean MAF sensor with MAF spray cleaner.
