cuts off while filling car up with gas then doesn’t want to start

Asked by Hutson92 Jun 24, 2020 at 01:57 PM about the 2015 Ford Fusion SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just bought the car and when I go to fill the gas
tank up it dies and doesn’t want to crank back up. I
have to give it a good bit of gas before it will crank
up again for me. Has this happen to anyone else??

I noticed this when I was running a little low on gas and instead of cutting the car off I tried to fillet with the car running and the car cut off then when I tried to start it it took two or three start cycles. I topped it all before leaving South Carolina same thing left a vehicle running and it turned off and took a long time starting so I figured I shouldn’t leave the car running while fueling about halfway back from South Carolina the engine light come on with the above mentioned code When I stopped in Virginia and fueled up I turn the car off and filled it and still had a hard time starting the car afterwards After it starts there’s no problems in between Phillips this just started happening at 83,000 miles and right after both of those trying to start while the vehicle is running
