2015 VW Passat does not accelerate

Asked by JoAnne Jul 07, 2016 at 05:19 PM about the 2015 Volkswagen Passat 2.0L TDI SE FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Car does not accelerate after stopping at a
light, for instance. Light changes and the car
does not move. Almost hit by oncoming
traffic on several occasions. Very scary. Had
it in for service at least five times and
dealers say that they can't duplicate the
problem. Car is at dealer again now having
yet another diagnostic. Camshaft, sensor or
what?

No, it just doesn't move at all, then it hesitates and catches slowly. I am afraid that we are going to be t-boned.The custmer service rep manager at VW is not helpful. The dealer has the car now. I saw one guy who reported to the bbb lemon law.

The dealer checked it out again and is telling me to use a higher grade gasoline. Ridiculous!

I have a 2015 TDI Passat. Car would jolt at highway speeds when accelerating. As stated above would also die if happened at a slow speed. The non acceleration issues only happened twice and I agree, fear of being t- boned. I brought my car in 3 times but they could not duplicate. I was able to film it once with my phone and the glow plug warning light came on. I left my car with the dealership and mechanic drive it to and from work and acknowledged all issues. I was told my transmission needed to be replaced. $4,500. I knew it wasn’t the transmission. I left Volkswagen a few words and stormed out angrily after I paid $275. I went to my car, started it up, it took a bit to start and low and behold, the glow plug sensor came on. I left the car running, went inside and they were finally able to pull codes. Cam shaft sensor. While they stated that this would solve the non acceleration issue, they could not guarantee the jilting issue would go away. I’ve driven over 500 miles and not a jolt. Car shifts perfectly. End result, this sensor causes a couple of issues. If you have jolting or non acceleration, this is the issue, NOT the transmission. 3-31-19
