Any pros and cons on Volkswagen Jetta & Passat?

Asked by Tylynn May 05, 2022 at 03:20 PM about the 2015 Volkswagen Passat 2.0L TDI SEL Premium FWD

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I am looking for a good reliable vehicle, I drive at least 45 miles of highway to
and from work every day. I have been looking at both the Jetta and Passat TDI.
I have been looking between 2011-2017 as they have been cheaper pricing in
my area. (Colorado) I'd appreciate any feedback on these cars from anyone
with experience. Please be as honest as you can!

While TDI s getting better gas mileage, they require more maintenance. If you can, go for a later model vehicle and lower mileage if you can since you are driving longer distances. That way the car will last you a bit longer. Have it inspected by a mechanic before purchasing to know what you are getting into and how much work it needs. The Jetta and Passat use similar parts, it all comes down to how much interior space you need and the cost. Jettas are more affordable and might be the likely choice for you. I like the 1.8L engine vs the 1.4L. a little extra HP goes a long way.
