How do I get the cargo light in the trunk to turn on. I have tried every switch, but no light. The bulb is good.

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The cargo light in the trunk won't turn on under any circumstances. I have tried every light
switch and every possible combination of doors, trunk, interior and parking light switches
will not operate it. Trunk switch is in adjustment.

Since you know the bulb is good, it is a pretty good indication that there in not 12v in the wire going to it. It is possible the socket has come loose and has no ground also. Use a voltmeter and check your voltage at the bulb base. If it has 12v, the new bulb must be bad. If not check fuse and check for pinched, broken or loose connection. This should be fairly easy to correct.

just a thought. because the wiring follows the hinges, after numerous times opening and closing the trunk ,, maybe the wires got a little brittle and might have a break some where even if the wires look intact. but that's a long shot
