What is the best way to get an elderly person from a walker to our 2015 Grand Cherokee with running boards?

We made certain that the Entry/Exit feature was engaged then we placed a vivid colored long rubber mat on the garage floor that had proved too slippery prior to our attempt the first time. We have Mom back up to the seat and as her bottom touches the seat we move the walker and lift her foot onto the running board. She can then push herself onto the seat while we assist her feet into the footwell. Have never needed the mat when we are not in our garage as the walking surface is never as slick as the cement in the garage.
