a 2.3L. Need to know if the original motor mounts from explorer will fit directly

Spark from coil to plugs, inertia switch not tripped, no combustion with ether sprayed into throttle body... no sound from fuel pump when keyed on, but shouldn't the ether fire anyway? any ideas?

Does anyone know if a 2.9 liter engine from a '01 Ford Ranger fit in my '87 Ranger that also had a 2.9 in it? Both are automatics and both are push button 4x4.
