Your numbers on the tack probably go from 1 to 8 then red line... so 1= 1000 rpm, 5=5000 rpm.

Goes the same for all the numbers. It is engine rpm, how fast the engine is turning.

Engine slow needle to the left, engine goes faster needle goes to the right.
