where is the dash gauge temperature sending unit or sensor

dash temp gauge is bouncing around from normal too hot..... as always ran at middle 210 now goes too 3/4 hot and then will bounce back to normal.... replaced t-stat and water pump with factory parts along with new coolant... new rad cap and belt...... rad is less then 2 years old due to rock..... wanting too know how the das gauge unit gets its information.....

The temperature sending unit gets its info from the coolant temperature. Then the signal goes to the computer so it can adjust the fuel going into the engine. So by chance, did you purge the cooling system after you filled it up? If you did not do this, then there are air pockets in the cooling system causing hot spots, and needs to be purged.
Yes that was performed......... yet I knew of the ETC sensor so are you saying that ................ this also supplies the reading for the dash temp gauge????????????????? If so I will replace it. Even though my dash temp gauge is now showing warmer then I am use too............. the engine does not smell hot and no warning light of overheating...... just that it use too run (3 years) right at the middle of the gauge 210 and never climbed higher.... yet now it runs at 3/4 of hot. I just figured that the ( temp gauge sensor) was acting up...... it has not Overheated nor set a light to that fact...... runs wonderful just I worry about the temp............Ouch
It is possible the gauge for some reason is off. Find a garage to accurately read the coolant temperature to see where it is running at to verify.
So ETC sensor has some drama.......
