I usually hit the unlock button on the fob while i am sitting in the car and can (so far) always get it to start. I note i am having this problem witg both key fobs for my 2013 Edge, even tho i have barely used the 2nd fob. So either the batteries in both fobs are dying at the same rate, regardless of actual use or the recognition electronics inside the car are sucking.....

There is a slot in the arm rest that you can put your key fob if it isn't working and it will start the car. Info is in your operations manual.

I fixed this by using one of those 9v system settings savers. I plugged it into the 12v receptacle where I had recently had my GPS connected in preparation to disconnect the battery. That action effectively fixed the "no key detected" problem. The rear tailgate opening button had not worked as well, and it was fixed too. Magic, right? (I did not ever disconnect the battery.)

You plugged in a 9v system settings saver into a 12v receptacle and magically fixed the "no key detected" problem? I would like to know more details about this. What settings saver did you use?

Ok so you put the fob in the slot in your console...it still doesn't fix the main problem of "no key detected". How do we fix that?

I resolved it by disconnecting the 12v battery, letting the car sit for a while, and reconnecting it. This seems to have effectively "rebooted" the security system. No settings were lost. The key just started working normally again. Others have said that you can disconnect the security system box under the dash, but I could not locate it. The 12v battery was easier to locate at the rear, right corner of the car. I had to pull off a few coverings, but it was all easy. This shows where you access the battery: https://youtu.be/i8nWmfeppOg?t=35

I have a 2020 Ford Edge and the same thing just happened to me. Open the center console and feel at the bottom towards the front of the car. There is a small slot the same size as the key fob. Put your key fob in this slot and the car will start after you push the brake. If it does not work the first time, turn the fob so it points the opposite direction and try again.

Mine did this cause i had accumulated over $60 worth of coins in the little receptacle the receiver sits under. Cleaned out all the coins and it stopped. All the metal must have been disrupting the signal.
