how often do I need to change my synthetic oil if I only drive 1500 miles a year?

Your owners manual specifies 7,500 miles with synthetic, which should be the only oil you use on in this engine..... There are three enemies of oil. First: As an engine runs, oil collects contaminants/dirt and carries them off to the filter. But even with the best filters, oil still retains some undesirable particles. Over time, oil collects more and it’s necessary to put clean oil into the engine. Second: As parts move and oil lubricates, molecules of oil are caught between parts and are sheared down; that is torn apart at a molecular level and lose their ability to properly lubricate. Third: Each time you start an engine, its temperature rises. When the engine is shut off, it cools. During this cooling process, oil being like a sponge, draws moisture from the air. To properly get rid of as much moisture as you can, each time you run an engine, allow it to warm up completely to vent off collected moisture..... If you drive short distances and you don't allow the engine, and the whole car, to warm completely, I'd change oil/filter every 3,000 miles. Otherwise, change every 5,000 miles. The oil can handle the extended time.
