I sold Honda for a while. There really isn't anything you'll find comparable in VALUE at the cost of ownership vs. what you receive in quality and longevity. Purchase a used CR-V and you'll have it for 200,000 miles ... minimal with poor maintenance. The EX-L has leather as well as upgraded wheels and the roof rack... upgraded audio system and such. If you need a less expensive SUV... go for it. Just realize that you are sacrificing quality and while it'll save you money initially... HONDA is KNOWN to hold it's resale value.... (This is also a great reason to purchase one)... that purchasing a less expensive one might prove detrimental over the length of ownership. It also has great fuel mileage. Maintenance costs on a Honda are low as well. Don't take my word for it... you can find information on ANY vehicle you are considering at Edmunds.com .... look at there 5 year cost to own calculator.
