Crank shaft rear oil seal

Asked by Margeb50 Sep 16, 2017 at 09:28 PM about the 2014 Toyota Camry LE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Dealership was told that this 2014 Toyota Camry
fiorenza's crank shaft rear oil seal was leaking oil.
Apparently,  it was "fixed" on 09/02/2017, the same
day that I was later sold this car as a used car. No
one gave me any repair history, and there is more.
This one being the worse.

Ok. But I found out all this by downloading all the service records of the Vin Number from the dealership.

If you ask them before buying it they should of gave it to you, I do not know if they are by Law to inform you unless it was a Salvage or Lemon.

I've not driven the car that much, but there are differrent things that have been going wrong. The CD player, whoever owned this car, and they knew him because he had his service done at this dealership treated this car worse than s..t.

Sounds like it was under warranty and the fix it and it was traded in so they sold it. But I understand I would want to know if the engine/trans had been removed too.

If its been under the (I think 30 days) time frame to turn it back it and they have to return your money or let you back out of the purchase.

They played dumb, ignorant, they didn't know anything which was a total lie. I called them this afternoon after I saw the service record. Well I'm certainly going to put up a stink about it. You don't go and sell some piece of crap and then think I'm not going to figure out. My god. What kind of reputation do they want. A bad one of a good one.

I agree. I was livid on the phone. I knew what a rear oil seal was. I had one on a car a long time ago, but that didn't "go" until I had the car for I don't remember how many years. I keep my cars forever. Thank you for your input.

Thank you!! Let's hope this goes well Monday afternoon, otherwise I may blow a gasket and it won't be a nice encounter. They have time to get their act together. And I'm not going home with a used Camry with more things ready to go wrong. Thank you, again!!

I will let you know how it goes. They are a very big dealership in Rockford, Illinois, and sell every car at different locations except Honda, Jaguar, Mercedes, Cadillac, Hyundai, Subaru. So they have a reputation. They cannot afford a bad sale. At least not with me. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer that has Metastasized to my Bones in February of this year. That will not look good. I wouldn't use that, but it isn't good for my positive outlook. Thank you.

It is always best to do your repair history research before buying a car, not after. Best of luck with it.
