Fuel pump

I got a bought a new fuel pump and put it on my
car and when I started the car after it was put on
the car idles rough and and sounds horrible and
have no power. Do I need to disconnect the battery
so I can restart the computer for the car to run
right...

Did you replace the in-line fuel filter if so equipped when replacing the pump?
