Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 gmc envoy when i give it gas the rpm goes up without the speed, i checked the transmission fluid, it said it has to be between the cold and hot well it is above that and i checked it twice, and it still reads the same, i am scared to drive it somewhere to have it checked out because i dont want to cause anymore damage, any ideas what is causing it to do this, or any suggestions on how i can check the filter for the transmission

Let the car get fully warmed up by driving it 5 miles or so. With the transmission in park, and the engine still RUNNING, now check your transmission fluid level. If it shows the fluid level is in the hot range on the stick then the fluid level is ok. If it doesn't show, then obviously you need to add fluid. If it reads as it should, then you should have the car scanned for problems. Good Luck.
