Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My dad has a 2002 Excursion (Diesel) with 124k miles. He is having trouble
with the transmission. Is this common? The car slowed and he couldn't get it
above 15mph.

My first excursion, I got 550,000 out of it. At 125,000 had to replace the transmission. My 2 ND one I have now I've not had it replaced. Mine started loosing power and I couldn't get over About 20 miles per hour. I can't remember what I had fixed but it cost me 5,100

The Excursion is a good candidate for a HD aftermarket transmission, a deep oil pan and a big transmission cooler.
