Automatic Transmission Shift cable

Question type: General

I just replaced the one that had broke and it had a zip tie on it to hold it on.
The new one they are telling me comes with a key and the place that did the
repairs put another zip tie on it. Is this normal or should it have had a key?

Unless there is a groove under the round white plastic piece for a "C" clip, that should have ben put back in there. If there is suppose to be a clip there, then that is shoddy work. They should have told you about it.

Looking closer at that connection, it does not look right. Looks like the zip tie is whats holding the shift cable to the linkage. If that is the case, this is not right.

I don't know for sure what is suppose that together, but this is not right. Looks like the zip tie is holding everything together. I would question this. It all most looks like the end of the shift cable goes on the round plastic peg. Also the shift cable is too close to that pipe I'll call it, you can see where the linkage is bent away from it, This is not right.

The picture you are looking at is when it broke. They told me it had broke before because it was held together with a zip tie. They fixed the cable but didn't adjust it right and I had to get someone to take it out of reverse for me today. They told me that it was suppose to have a key to adjust it and it has a zip tie on it. The garage had to put another one back on there and not the key if it was suppose to have one.
