Any problems with the 6 cylinder engine in the 2014 GMC Terrian?

The v-6 has more power, but the I-4, if your in town or suburban driving a lot is just as good and it gets a bunch more MPG. In S. Ca. we can only go as fast as the Corvette/Porsche in front of us in freeway traffic. That would be between 15 and 31 MPH. My low mileage is the top for the V-6. I'm going on a long road trip next week with a lot of mountain and back road driving in Utah, so I'll report back on the power and mileage. I do agree, a little turbo would be teh cat's meow in the larger SUV it is. MBZ has done it and the C-250 I-4 with turbo has more power than my daughter's C-350 and gets better gas mileage.

I'm back and the I-4 ran great, only lacked acceleration power in passing or getting onto a fast moving freeway, but is you know your limitations and are a careful driver, it is no issue. Total miles was 1800 and total overall mileage was 27.8 MPG with mountain driving, and freeway driving at 80+ from So. Ca. to St. George Utah. Then a lot of two lane mountain roads to most all all the national parks. Less room that my Buick Terraza, but it was comfortable and what we needed for us two. Just can't get the radio and nav system figured out yet.

Yes a V-6 is more snap, but the mileage is the trade off. Like I said, it depends on what you need the power for. If you pulling or hauling heavy items, the higher HP is a benefit. If it is just transportation, the 4 banger with better MPG is a consideration. I would consider trading my new Terrain in for a turbo I-4 is they came out with one, or even a turbo diesel. Mileage would be in the 40's with the diesel.

My 2013 GMC Terrain gets 37mpg per Cdn imperial gal. That’s about 29 per us gal. Great performance. However I have had to add an oil catch can as the rear pvc carboned up the heads, valves and seats so badly, the engine quit and required major warranty work replacing all those parts.
