2014 chevy sometimes key gets stuck and will not turn car off

My car runs fine .I park it and turn it off and bamm ,key will not release. Turn it
fully on again and turn fast and the key will completely release .Took to
dealership ,say they have to replace the shift mechanism and some type of
connector but there is no part # on the estimate .Does this seem possible .

It's some kind of sensor in the shift mechanism.. I had the exact same problem with my 2013 cRaptiva sport. GM should really issue a recall for it, because it seems to be a common issue with not only our model years, but with several previous years and models as well (and there was a recall for many of those up until 2012..)

I actually had the same issue 2012 , took it to the dealership told me the same thing. However I just brought my captiva , so there was no way I was paying 1000+ made of stuff Chevrolet gave me. So maybe a month of the car dying , getting locked out. I took it to Minakee in Richmond,Va right off of Parham road, for 1 day. Really nice guy I think his name was Keith said it was a loose wire behind the steering wheel , he then followed to say he just stuck some tape on it charged me $60!!!! 1 1/5 later Never had the problem again.
