Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I just got a 2014 Kia Sedona.  I see where your suppose to check the valve clearances at 60k mi.  Seems like it's an involved procedure.  Is it really necessary?  I thought this type of thing went out the window a long time ago.  And is the transmission fluid really good for the life of the car.  With my old Chevy Venture and Uplander when I saw the fluid getting dirty on the dipstick I would do a flush and fill, never had transmission problems but since the Sedona is sealed you can't check the tranny fluid.  Thanks for your opinions.
