Steering loss Pull over safely

On Monday when I got to work I got a message saying that said steering loss
pull over safely. This issue did not happen until my area got a lot of rain and it
got super cold. First steering wheel was locked in place then got the steering
wheel to unlock and worked fine then woke up the next morning and same
thing got steering wheel unlocked and then the steering loss pull over safely
popped up was just wondering what could be causing this problem

Have the computer checked for codes. There may be an issue with the steering assist unit.
