Clutch problem...

Asked by NotSoGuru Sep 28, 2017 at 11:47 PM about the 1996 Geo Tracker 2 Dr LSi Convertible

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I replaced the clutch, and adjusted the clutch cable
I.A.W. owners manual. With the vehicle off the
ground, shifting through the gears (using the clutch
pedal) is like it should be. But once I lower the
vehicle to the ground, no clutch pedal, and won't go
into gear. I have replaced the clutch cable, same
result. Any input would be appreciated.

Get a repair book and make sure you started out correctly and finished correctly.

Faito1983, I had to reposition the clutch cable linkage arm that actuates the clutch fork. disconnect the cable from the fork, position the arm so it is just about to engage the throwout bearing, then reconnect the cable. this is all under the vehicle work. but it is a simple fix. once I figured out what the problem was, it took maybe 15 minutes. keep me posted.
