1989 Ford ranger

My wife just inherited her father's Ford ranger.....it
ran great for the first few day... now when she
goes out to start it during the day it acts like it is
flooding out and you have to fight to get it to
run...but if it's at night when it's cool, it will start
and run good.....what could be the problem??????
