No fire from coil on 87 ford ranger

I have a 87 Ford ranger I was coming home and
was running out of gas so I rocked it back and
forth trying to make it home well it died so when I
went and got gas and put in it I noticed that the
fuel pump was not running.so I found a wire on the
ground side of my battery that was
unplugged.plugged it up fuel pump started
working.But we're in had turned it over cranking it
ran battery down put sinister on it backwards and
fire arched fixed problem but now I am not getting
angrier from coil
