can i install a serpentine belt & bypass the a/c compressor?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A/C compressor is shot & I really don't want to replace it on an '89 F150. Can I use a
shorter serpentine belt & just bypass the compressor pulley? Other options?

http://www.1aauto.com/1989-ford-f150-truck-ac-compressor-bypass- pulley/y-mo-c/1989-1521-80 --get an ac bypass pulley. About $60 for yours and you will be able to use same belt.

I have a 1994 F-150 5.0 5 speed I had a very similar issue and found that a 92 inch belt specifically master pro part number K060913 works like a charm.

I'm just wondering, I have a 1993 f150 5.8l 351 will that size belt also work for me as well. Im having same issue. Thanks for the help and info.
