Question type: Maintenance & Repair

In the chilton manual It shows to fill the transmission fluid through the filler tube. I don't have a dipstick/filler tube. Or at least not in an accessible location. I'm used to my manual transmission with two plugs. Where the heck is it?

There isn't a fill plug. You fill it through the dipstick.

Thanks. I don't see a dipstick on this truck. I'm going to keep looking. I cant find it. do you know where it should be on this model? I wanted to get the transmission flushed, plus the filter and gasket changed. My brother in law`s mechanic said a fluid change/ drop pan/gasket filter would be best, so I can do that myself for less money with the best fluids/ parts....if I can just find where to fill it on this truck...any location specific ideas where to look?

It should be on the passenger side between the engine and ac box. It is supposed to have one, someone could have taken it out...

Look under the hood and locate the tip stick for the engine oil. The tip stick for the tranny is normally on the opposite side of the engine. Look for a tube sticking up on the side. My guess is someone took it out and did not put it back in.

Some ford transmissions do have fill tubes but there's a plug on the trans and you use a fluid pump

I ment dont have a dip stick no tube but plug on the side I know the aode transmission are like that
