1989 f150 5.0 V8 running on only 3 cylinders, immediate help.

Asked by Xlt_Lariat Jun 09, 2014 at 10:42 AM about the 1988 Ford F-150 XLT Standard Cab 4WD SB

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

we will cut to the chase its not a leak bad hose/wire evap or throttle sensor. not a clog
in the fuel line. i believe its the fuel regulator. the fuel rail reads 36 psi so i modified my
regulator ( put a washer under the spring inside) and gained 10 psi on the fuel rail. so
far its 46 psi and it did run a little better. I am in need of what the fuel pressure should
be at the rail for my vehicle or anyone else who has experience with this problem.
Spark plugs and wires checked. i can unplug 5 of them without them affecting the
performance. so that leads to only 3 cylinders working. spark plug wires range from
6000-9000 ohms.

I hate to tell you this ; but, your question is ridiculous. You have the equipment to check stuff but you trying to say that you have no idea why you check stuff or what the results of what you are checking should be. Sell your equipment and use the money to pay someone that has a shop manual , the know-how......
