Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I'm looking for a place in texas that can bring my 1987 f150, back to life.  The body and
frame are in good condition and it has bounced around from mechanic to mechanic with
different issues.  Any suggestions on a very reliable shop!?

So what are the important issues. You vehicle is almost thirty years old. Remanufacturered engine and tranny should solve about 99 percent of the problems. Brakes, you can do yourself. Interior is not difficult or expensive.

There seems to be something wrong with the furl system every time we take it to a shop. But besides that it will go from running perfect to not even starting the next day.

When it does not start, is it getting spark to the plugs? I'm under the assummption it is carburated, Will it start with starter fluid? What level of "tinkering" are you confortable with.

Is it the original engine? Has the fuel filter been changed? What about the fuel pump? If once started, it runs great, the carb may be flooding out.
