Is a 1985 Truck that was originally sold in Oregon... Was well maintained by it's only owner. The motor was never altered. Will this truck now pass smog inspection in Northern California.?

This truck is real nice and I am not sure which motor it has since this is the first year that Ford offered
fuel injection in this model. It is a Ford Explorer Pick-up.
I know that all Ford Trucks had to meet the Federal Emission Regs... But not all were made to meet
California Regs.  I wonder if trucks sold in Oregon in 1985 meet the California Regs at the time.?
If it won't pass smog in Cal. Is there anything that we can do to the truck to get it to pass smog and
if so how much does that normally cost.?
Any advise will help me...

1985 may be exempt. Here in Lake county they are very lenient, down in Alameda county they faithfully do the four levels 1.) cap and equipment all present 2.) all equipment is functioning properly 3.) Nox, CO, CO2 levels 4.) levels under various dynamic conditions using a dynamometer and sensor probe...if all is factory, like you say will have no problem....why on earth would anyone leave Oregon...must be a job or something~

You'd have to call smog check garages as there are places that to nothing but smog checks and will not lay a wrench to your vehicle, even to nose the timing up a few degrees~.....just check.

local...as I was saying LAKE county is poor and cannot afford dynamometers and usually look the other way with smokey vehicles here~
