Is there such a thing as a Shelby 5 bolt bellhousing that accepts a transmission with 8 mounting bolts?

Asked by danailbender Jun 18, 2013 at 11:27 PM about the 1965 Ford Mustang Shelby Coupe GT350 RWD

Question type: General

I owned a HiPo 289 supposedly from a Shelby Mustang, The heads were stamped VHS
(Valley Head Service) which I understand was where Shelby heads were machined. But
the bellhousing is a 5 bolt and the transmission mounts to bellhousing with 8 bolts, not 4.
4 threaded into trans and 4 threaded into bellhousing. The trans is a close ratio top loader.
I still have bellhousing and trans but sold engine 30 years ago for a years tuition.
