2013 Chevy Captiva blown engine

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Why did my oil disappear...where did it go
and why didnt my check engine or low oil
display?  Pulled up to a stop sign and car
died. Shut it off and turned back on, ran
loudly, kind of sputtering drove toward
house .93 of a mile home only made it
about 1000 ft and car died. Towed to shop
and mechanic informed me that there was
no oil. So valves are bent and most likely
pistons shot so I'll need an engine.  Then
commented that this seems to be a
problem with the captivas engines as hes
seen this before.
Called chevy mechanic and hes never
heard of this problem. I told him I was
surprised that my mechanic and others,
from this site, seemed to know of this
problem but some how chevy doesnt
know. He then told me that only equinox
was recalled for burning oil no problems
with captivas. He then said that there was
probably a loud pop and something to do
with the manifold.  There needs to be a
class action law suit as we, the
consumers, pay alot of money to have a
known problem not addressed to the
consumers and for chevy not to recall.

Unless you had some sort of catastrophic oil loss the problem was a combination of oil consumption and neglect. This is why you check the oil level on a regular basis.

no there doesn't need to be a class action lawsuit. if you don't focus on your automobile and what it takes to allow it to do what it does , if you don't understand the auto, it's on you. if you don't understand heat and electronics don't mix, it's on you. If you don't check your oil level each and every day to every other day, your car issues again, on you sir. Shops go through mechanics hand over fist. I would trust THIS SITE about an issue before I went to a local shop and trusted someone to fix whatever. Something to think about.. do you not drink water every day or maybe a cola or a beer. you feel that you should drink everyday?? how do you think your feels... and I wont get no points either for being nice and talking to you about self inflictions, sadly, the site is NOT perfect. have fun re lubing
