Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I noticed a little bit different sound coming
from motor, slight knock. Look underneath
motor and there is a slight drip of thin real
thin black oil substances. What is it?

Concerning the knock, start by checking your engine oil level. And it's common for all diesel engines to be black and oily everywhere. That's probably a small fuel leak mixed with a black motor oil leak.

My oil level is fine and the transmission fluid is good. It sounds like a pulley may be loose. The fluid is real thin. But it is black in color. The oily substance is dripping slightly from the front of the oil pan and the pulley right in front of the oil pan. It’s just not thick like motor oil. It’s the same color just real thin
