florida resident 2014 chevy impala is in cold weather and power steering goes out as temperature drops to 28 degrees...next day the temp warms to 36 degrees and power steering is on for 10 minutes until dashboard temp drops to 27... it remains off...what is the connection of the electric power steering to air temp

No direct connection and I think your PS is hydraulic, not electric. However, I do not know your car well enough to be sure. If it is hydraulic, check to be sure your belt is in good condition and properly tensioned. Also make sure the PS reservoir is full.
