Changing Wheel Size

Asked by Bigguy2 Apr 19, 2014 at 02:32 PM about the 2014 Jeep Patriot Sport 4WD

Question type: Car Customization

Hello,

I would like to change the wheels on my new Jeep Patriot North.  It came with 16 inch
steel wheels and I would like to upgrade to the 17 inch alloy wheel.  Is this a problem as
far as effecting the speedometer reading?  The Patriot does come with 17 inch wheels as
well so am guessing I could just remove my existing 16 inch steel wheels and install the
17 inch along with tires to fit.  Would the aspect ratio have to change from the existing 70
profile?

Thank you,

Maurice

you will have no problems since that is a factory wheel size. you will have to run shorter tires to keep the same overall diameter, which will keep speedometer correct. you will have a slightly rougher ride with the lower profile tires. you should be able to look in your owners manual to see what size tires the factory uses on the 17s.
