Changed battery, now a soft whining noise

Asked by Brian Dec 14, 2018 at 09:12 PM about the 2013 Mazda MAZDA5 Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Lately with the cold weather, sometimes the car
will start, other times it won't start without a jump.
The car is 5 years old and with the original battery,
so I figured its time to change it. I just put a new
battery in, then when I started it, I hear a whining
noise. Its a soft quiet whine though, but I notice it.
And it wasn't making that sound before. What
could be causing this?

See what the voltage is coming out of the alternator. They can make odd noises. Make sure all your fluids are up to proper levels. Good Luck!
