Is there a way for a non-mechanic to tweak the idle down?
Brand new GEX enigine, and my '87 vanagon runs great...except...it is now idling at 2,000
rpm. Would like to know if there is a non-mechanic adjustment that will bring it down to
1000 or so?
I'd suspect the fuel pressure regulator as when the hose gets cracked or falls off, the idle speed will increase and fuel pressure will be insufficient~
So you think it's something defective, rather than something that can be adjusted in?

these systems idle speed is set by the ECU~ really want to adjust something, but there ain't nothin' to adjust~

You could look at your motor....look at the vacuum hoses...replace the cheapo black butyl rubber hoses with silicone rubber ones...that's a low- tech affair certainly within your capabilities...rather you spend the money on silicone hoses and spend the afternoon getting rid of those black and cracked hoses...rather than throw your money away putting your mechanic's kid through college~....all you need is a pair of scissors...take them one at a time...PS silicone hose is expensive (about 20 times more)~
most auto parts stores offer a silicone vacuum supply~
