Asked by DAVIDZT25 Aug 08, 2017 at 01:56 PM about the 2003 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Fastback RWD

Question type: General

I want to clean my engine compartment.  Removing battery helps to ensure shorts don't happen after washing and subsequently starting the car.  Can I safely remove the battery without screwing up the computer on board the car?

This is the computer reset procedure: Disconnect your negative battery cable for 15 minutes. Reconnect it and start your car. Let it idle for 10 minutes with all accessories off. Shut it down. Restart and turn all accessories on. Let it idle for another 10 minutes. Go for a ride.
